Windows (Macintosh Below)
Due to the large file sizes and inconsistent performance of creating Zip files for software, we are distributing most SPSS products in ISO format. ISO is a standard disk image format, which will allow the creation of DVDs or virtual mounting to your desktop using Daemon Tools.
If you wish to create your own DVDs, you must have a DVD recording device and your own DVDs.
CU Software recommends the use of Daemon Tools, which once installed, will act like a CD/DVD drive and install software. Below is a link to download Daemon Tools and we have provided instructions for install and use. Please READ and FOLLOW the instructions, since it will help prevent problems.
NOTE: Please remember the location where you download SPSS, since you must locate it during the installation process.
SOFTWARE INSTALLATION
1. Download and install Daemon Tools or burn a CD/DVD using the SPSS ISO file you downloaded previously.
2a. If using Daemon Tools, Right Click the Daemon Tools icon from the bottom right Windows menu bar (near your computer clock). Select "Virtual CD/DVD-ROM", then select "Device...No Media", and finally "Mount Image". You will be prompted to browse for the SPSS 17 ISO file you downloaded. Once selected, the SPSS 17 installer should automatically launch.
2b. If you chose to burn a CD/DVD, insert the media into your CD/DVD drive and the SPSS 17 installer should automatically launch.
3. Click Install SPSS.
4. Click the Site license radio button, and click Next.
5. Accept the License Terms
6. Complete the User Name, and ALWAYS use Cornell University as the Organization. Enter the Authorization Code received in your SPSS order confirmation email, and click Next.
7. Follow as prompted to complete the install.
8. When the setup wizard has finished, Click the Get a license now radio button. Click OK.
NOTE: You MUST complete this step, or your copy of SPSS will expire two weeks from the date of installation.
9. Click START to begin the Authorization process.
10. Click the “Use Authorization via Internet to get your License” radio button. Click Next.
11. Enter the Authorization Code received in your SPSS order confirmation email, and click Next.
12. Click Finish. You have now completed the installation and license th eauthorization of your new SPSS software.
Macintosh
1. Locate the SPSS17mac.iso file downloaded. Double click it to mount the SPSS 17 disk image, and launch the installer.
2. Double Click the SPSS Stats Installer.
3. Click the Site license radio button, and click Next.
4. Accept the License Terms
5. Complete the User Name, and ALWAYS use Cornell University as the Organization. Enter the Authorization Code received in your SPSS order confirmation email, and click Next.
6. Follow as prompted to complete the install.
7. When the setup wizard has finished, Click the Get a license now radio button. Click OK.
